Health is an incredibly complicated entity: We don’t always get to choose what happens to us or what resources we have access to, so it’s important to remember that “good” mental and physical health often involve more than just making a few small lifestyle changes.
Yes, eating, sleeping and exercising are very important aspects of improving your health. But not everyone’s physical and mental health problems can be immediately and directly solved by putting more effort into these things. Some problems are much more complicated than that.
So you’re absolutely right - It’s not easy. And the sooner we recognize that not everyone has the option of attaining a “strong heart,” “calm nerves,” etc, due to circumstances that are outside their control, the better. That way, we can focus on giving people access to the resources they truly need instead of shaming them for not living a supposedly perfectly fit lifestyle.
When people critique me, tell me I’m too buff , tell me to stop working out or I’ll look like a man , when society says that’s not attractive to have too many muscles , when mostly all the fitness magazines have tiny tiny girls on the cover with ribs sticking out making girls feel like that’s the only way to be beautiful , when all you want to do is share love & inspire & people have something terrible to say , when living becomes impossible without having a million insecurities. When the word “perfection” becomes Unreachable. Don’t aim for “their” definition of “perfection” aim for YOU’RE OWN. Just walk past them, get those #GAINS smile cause you got this & REMEMBER .. you are way too bomb 😍💪🏾 stand strong , freak the none sense & hate & negativity ! Almost 50 % of the world is unhappy & as sleep. Don’t forget what REALLY MATTERS. That’s LOVE ❤️ & all the greatest things & blessings will follow. Just show #LOVE & you are moving in the right direction. #qimmahtherapy #qflex #qimmahrusso #fitness
Just because you can doesn’t mean that you have to
Just because you can run a mile in 7 minutes does not mean that very single mile you run needs to be at that pace. An 11 minute mile is just as valid and worthwhile.
Just because you can squat 180 pounds does not mean that you have to reach that weight during every workout. Stopping at 120 doesn’t make you a failure.
Fitness doesn’t progress in a linear fashion. Doing “less” today does not mean that yesterday’s achievements are somehow invalidated. You can still work hard and happily complete a less intense workout.
You are allowed to feel completely satisfied even if you didn’t hit, or break, your PR. You are also allowed to make no attempt to hit, or break, your PR. Not every single day is going to be your “best” and that’s cool. Don’t stress about it.
Don’t stress about it. Amen.

Let's get this straight, girls:
- Cardio: Required for fat loss. HIIT is said to be the most effective cardio for fat loss.
- Strength/Weight training: Required for toning and definition. You won’t get abs or lean-looking legs without strong muscles. Lift heavy.
- Good nutrition: Required for all of the above. Always remember, 70% diet, 30% exercise. Keep your intake in check.
- The “Beach Body” requires all three of these elements. No matter how much cardio you do, if you eat like shit and do no strength work, you will not get the toned, lean, slim body you are after. If you eat fantastically, but do zero exercise, your body won’t really do an awful lot of changing.
- It’s not easy, but it’s worth it:
Mental fitness
As a member of the Fitblr community, I obviously post a lot about physical fitness but mental fitness is even more important and we can also train our brains to think healthy just as we train our bodies
Today I went to a talk from a speaker who suffered from severe anxiety and depression. He gave us 5 tips to try (for 10 days) to help keep our minds fit and I thought maybe someone else might find them useful
1. Remove yourself from toxic situations/people
2. Be self compassionate - every night before you sleep tell yourself something good about yourself/your day/something you did
3. Be grateful - every morning when you wake up before you even check your phone or get out of bed say 30 things you are grateful for, even if it’s just your coffee that you will have when you get up - just say thank you!
4. Be Mindful - 30 times throughout the day practice mindfulness - appreciate and live in the moment. It could be from your first cup of tea to making your dinner
5. Don’t judge - yourself or others. If you find yourself thinking or about to make a judgmental comment just stop yourself and move on
